I have spent twenty years starting companies, growing them, and selling some of them. These days I do the same thing with other founders' companies — with my own money behind them.

My first businesses were in industrial manufacturing and digital advertising. The best known of them is eLama, an advertising automation platform that became one of the largest in its market and which I later exited.

What I learned there is what I bring now: how a business actually makes money, where margin hides, and what it takes to get a product from it works to it sells. I am most useful in the unglamorous parts — pricing, unit economics, the first commercial hires, and the year when growth stops being free.
